Precinct Consolidation
JUNE 6, 2017 WORK SESSION
The board discussed the current and potential polling locations within the adopted plan's precinct boundaries. While some polling locations are proposed to remain the same, the board has identified additional potential polling locations that will be surveyed prior to the next scheduled meeting. The presentation displayed current polling locations and the proposed changes. The data included shows how many active voters would be transferred within each precinct and the distance from the approximate farthest point of each precinct boundary.
MAY 2, 2017 WORK SESSION
The board voted 2-1 to adopt the revised Plan E as the proposed precinct boundaries. Included were the current voter statistics for each proposed precinct. The proposed plan creates 16 election day voting precincts in Stanly county. The revisions allowed for the City of Albemarle to have 1 precinct per council district.
PLAN E REVISED VOTER STATISTICS-
The voter statistics for each of the proposed 16 precincts have been updated according to the proposed Plan E map that was adopted.
APRIL 4, 2017 WORK SESSION
2017 POLLING PLACE INSPECTION SUMMARY REPORT-
The results of the inspections at current polling places were provided in a summarized report; a list of potential polling places were also submitted.
MARCH 7, 2017 WORK SESSION
Two additional plans were provided with voter statistics; Plan E was submitted by Karmen Mock-Phillips; an email reply from the SBOE was presented regarding precinct change approvals and S667v3; an additional email from the SBOE was presented regarding the statewide precinct review where the SBOE asked the county BOE to provide information on all possible polling locations within the county.
FEBRUARY 7, 2017 WORK SESSION
Outlines previous precinct changes that have occurred within the county; the statues pertaining to precinct changes including boundary requirements and maximum voter registration count within a precinct; the current statistics of each precinct including registration numbers and comparisons to similar counties within the state; how changes are implemented, and the goals and objectives of precinct consolidation.
